Direct answer: the current nine petrol guides describe approximately the first 1,000 km as running-in, but they do not publish one universal 40 or 50 km/h road-speed rule. The first engine-oil checkpoint is 500 km on four models and 1,000 km on five; the first free service is a separate one-month-or-1,000-km boundary, whichever occurs first.

Three common shortcuts are wrong.
A forum road-speed number is not the manual's wording. A 500 km oil checkpoint is not automatically the first free service. Reaching 1,000 km is not permission for a top-speed or full-throttle test.
Earlier means earlier
The first free service is due by one month or 1,000 km, whichever occurs first. Low use does not cancel the time boundary.
Safety does not wait
Brake, tyre, steering, leak, smoke, heat, warning, control or impact concerns use the safe inspection route—not extra running-in kilometres.

Can I idle or ride extra kilometres to complete running-in?
No. Do not idle on a stand, ride without a genuine journey, overload, use full throttle or test top speed to consume kilometres. Time-based service can become due before distance is reached.
Can I use full throttle after 1,000 km?
Reaching an approximate running-in distance is not blanket authorization for full-throttle or top-speed testing. Continue to follow the exact guide, traffic law, safe loading and current condition.
Does Honda ICON e use the same running-in and oil schedule?
No. ICON e is electric and has no petrol engine-oil checkpoint. Obtain current written electric-specific operation, service and warranty terms.

“No overloading” still requires the exact model's published number.
