The reviewed current petrol-model guides publish 10–20 mm at the clutch-lever tip. That applies to CD70, CD70 Dream, Pridor, CG125, CG125 Self, CG125 Gold, CB125F, CG150 and CB150F. It does not apply to ICON e, whose left and right hand levers are identified as rear and front brakes.

Too little or no free play

Honda explains that a cable-operated clutch may remain partly disengaged as steering position changes and may wear prematurely. Inspect the cable route and clutch operation; do not merely chase the lower number.

Too much free play

The clutch may not disengage fully. Creeping, stalling when gear is selected or persistent drag requires trained inspection even after a lever measurement.

Clutch slip

Engine speed rises without a matching increase in drive or road speed. Free play, clutch wear, lubricant, load and internal condition can overlap; the checker does not authorize a plate replacement.

Hard shifting or noise

Clutch drag is one possibility, but cable condition, oil, drive chain, transmission, engine speed, controls and technique may also matter. Use the exact inspection route.

Stop normal riding for a control fault. A stuck or non-returning lever, frayed or damaged cable, sudden control change, uncontrolled creep or loss of drive can affect motorcycle control. Arrange safe transport and trained inspection rather than testing it in traffic.
