Atlas Honda drive chain care: one exact interval, no guessed slack.

Every current petrol-model Pakistan schedule reviewed says to inspect and lubricate the drive chain every 500 km. The same public PDFs do not include the model-specific slack page they reference, so this guide keeps the interval exact and makes the missing millimetre range explicit.

Current Pakistan schedule

All nine petrol models publish the same 500-km drive-chain row.

I.L means inspect and lubricate. The reviewed schedule page for each petrol model states this every 500 km. This is separate from the wider 2,000-km or 4,000-km periodic chart family used for other rows.

What the public downloads do not establish

The responsible answer to “how many mm?” is model-specific verification.

20

pages in each current petrol download

The files run from book page 13 through book page 32. Their drive-chain schedule row points to book page 36, which is outside the public download.

0

universal slack numbers used here

Honda states that the slack measurement position and method can differ by motorcycle. A number from a foreign CB125F, another engine size or an older variant is not a Pakistan exact-model specification.

Important correction: the 2-6 mm figure visible on book page 29 is throttle-grip free play. It is not drive-chain slack and must not be copied into a chain adjustment.

Private inspection recorder

Compare several readings with your exact complete-manual range.

Enter only a minimum and maximum verified for the exact model, variant and year. The checker runs in this browser, stores nothing and transmits nothing. It does not decide adjuster turns, wheel alignment, torque or rear-brake setup.

Use the support position and measurement point required by the exact complete manual. Keep the engine off and hands clear of pinch points.

Exact-source workflow

Eight steps from model identity to a reviewable chain record.

Identify the motorcycle

Confirm model, variant, year and whether it uses a drive chain.

Verify the slack source

Use the complete current manual, label or written authorized specification.

Make inspection safe

Stop the engine, select neutral and use the specified level support position.

Use the exact method

Follow the stated chain run, reference point and measurement direction.

Check several positions

Move the motorcycle or wheel by hand as instructed and record each reading.

Compare every reading

Use the exact minimum and maximum; do not average away an abnormal point.

Inspect condition

Check movement, lubrication, dirt, rust, links and both sprockets.

Escalate abnormalities

Arrange trained inspection when anything is out of range, inconsistent or damaged.

What safe chain care includes

Slack is one measurement inside a complete chain-and-sprocket inspection.

Clean and lubricate for the chain type

Honda advises removing dirt with an appropriate cleaner and soft brush, drying and applying compatible chain lubricant. If chain type is uncertain, confirm it before choosing a cleaner; some products can damage sealed-chain O-rings.

Keep lubricant off tyres and brakes

Apply carefully, allow penetration and remove excess. Contamination on tyres or braking surfaces is a safety concern and requires proper correction before use.

Check movement and sprockets

Sticking links, rust, deformation, damage, poor engagement or worn sprocket teeth are not fixed by merely changing one slack reading. Chain and sprockets work as a system.

Leave adjustment and verification to a trained route

Rear-wheel alignment, axle and adjuster fasteners, chain tension through suspension travel and rear-brake effects must remain correct. The checker intentionally gives no turns or torque instructions.

Do not inspect a moving chain. Stop the engine. Keep hands, clothing and tools away from sprocket pinch points. If the motorcycle may be unsafe, do not ride it to test a web result; arrange trained inspection or recovery.

Two different chains

Drive-chain care cannot diagnose an internal timing-chain complaint.

Drive chain

The visible external final-drive chain transfers engine power to the rear wheel through sprockets. Its slack, lubrication, link movement and sprocket condition are part of chassis maintenance.

Timing or cam chain

This is an internal engine component controlling valve timing. Engine noise, tensioner diagnosis and internal adjustment require a different technical procedure. Do not use external drive-chain settings as a remedy.

Frequently asked questions

Drive-chain interval, slack and warning signs

How often should an Atlas Honda motorcycle drive chain be inspected and lubricated?

The nine current petrol-model schedules reviewed all state I.L every 500 km: inspect and lubricate every 500 km. Dirt, rain, rust, poor lubrication or abnormal operation can require earlier attention.

What is the correct CD70 or CG125 chain slack in millimetres?

Use the complete current manual, label or written authorized specification for the exact model, variant and year. The current public downloads publish the 500-km interval but end before book page 36, which they reference for chain detail. This guide does not invent the missing range.

Is the 2-6 mm figure in the operation guide the chain slack?

No. That figure is throttle-grip free play on book page 29. It must not be used for drive-chain adjustment.

Can I use another Honda model's slack number?

No. Honda states that the measurement position and method can differ by motorcycle. Use the exact model, variant and year source.

Should I check more than one chain position?

Yes. Honda guidance says to check several points. Non-constant slack can indicate kinked or binding links and requires trained inspection.

What signs need trained chain-and-sprocket inspection?

Out-of-range or inconsistent slack, sticking, rust, damage, deformation, poor lubrication, heavy dirt, abnormal noise or worn or deformed sprockets need timely inspection.

Is the drive chain the same as the timing or cam chain?

No. The drive chain is the external final drive to the rear wheel. A timing or cam chain is internal to the engine. Their diagnosis and service procedures are different.

Does ICON e use the 500-km drive-chain schedule?

No. The current specification places its electric motor at the rear wheel. Use current electric-model guidance and do not transfer petrol chain-and-sprocket instructions.

Does the checker save or send my measurements?

No. It runs in the browser, stores nothing and transmits nothing.

Does a within-range result prove the motorcycle is safe?

No. It cannot verify technique, support position, alignment, wear, lubrication, sprockets, fasteners, rear brake effects or the rest of the motorcycle.

Need the exact-model workshop route?

Bring the motorcycle identity, complete source and recorded readings.

Ask for slack, chain movement, lubrication, chain and sprocket condition, rear-wheel alignment, adjustment findings and any rear-brake effect to be recorded before work proceeds.

Noise-system boundary

Keep final-drive chain noise separate from internal engine noise.

Use the road-speed, RPM, clutch/gear and safety finder before deciding which system to inspect. Never use an external drive-chain slack or adjustment as a remedy for an internal timing/cam-chain, tappet, bearing or engine concern.

Transmission-system boundary

The final-drive chain is not the internal gearbox or selector.

Use the exact-model gear-shifting route to preserve clutch, specified oil, lever, impact and recent-work evidence alongside chain and sprocket condition. Do not tighten the chain, force a shift or request internal parts from a stuck-gear or clunk description alone.

Does the bike rev without matching road response or feel held back? The pickup evidence finder routes power-transfer, chain/wheel, brake/tyre, warning and ICON e evidence without a full-throttle, wheel-spin, brake-drag or road-speed test.

Official spare-parts price reference

Check every product in the dated official online catalogue

Use the Atlas Honda genuine spare-parts price guide for all 13 products visible in the official category on 1 September 2026, their exact CD70 or CG125 application wording and a private inquiry-preparation tool. The PKR 140–3,550 displayed range is not a fitment, stock, labour, delivery or final-quote promise.

Rain and washing care

Use low-pressure water and route every post-water change safely

The Honda motorcycle washing, rain and water-care guide covers the official low-pressure wash sequence, hot-part, brake, chain, intake, exhaust and electrical boundaries, separate ICON e handling and a private exact-model exposure finder. Deep water, pressure washing, no-start, changed braking or an electrical warning is an inspection route—not a reason to repeat-start or road-test the motorcycle.

Long parking and safe restart

Plan before storage—and inspect before start or charge

Use the exact-model Honda motorcycle storage and restart guide to record duration and environment, then route fuel, battery and tyre evidence without a universal tank, charger, periodic-start or blind-restart shortcut. Honda ICON e remains on its separate electric-system path.

Buying a used Honda motorcycle

Verify records before money—and condition before price

Use the used Honda buying and pre-purchase inspection checklist to place official owner/vehicle/transfer evidence, maintenance and cold/static history, trained exact-model findings, lawful test-ride clearance and completed transfer ahead of a token or seller-led shortcut.

Run the exact-model Honda motorcycle pre-ride inspection before first movement. It checks tyre, brake, control, energy, fluid, final-drive and light or warning evidence, puts dangerous observations first, and keeps ICON e separate from petrol, engine-oil, clutch and chain instructions.

Throttle and accelerator-control evidence

Use the exact-model Atlas Honda throttle free-play and accelerator-control guide for the approximately 2–6 mm grip range verified in all nine current petrol guides, smooth return and steering-position checks, control-danger escalation and a separate non-numeric ICON e electric route.
